I have been diagnosed with allergic eyes along with a pterygium and pinguecula in both eyes by an ophthalmologist recently. He has provided me with Optive Gel Drops and Relestat Drops from Allergan.
I did use the above-mentioned drops for a month and experience discomfort. Eyes felt stressed and swollen. So, I don't use the eye drops anymore.
My eyes literally look like vampire eyes in the morning with it being very red =). This disappears after being awake for a while. Still, it isn't normal and I am wondering if anyone might be able to provide some advice on this forum.
In addition, eyes become red and irritated after working on my computer or with windy conditions, I have also read that having a pterygium can lead to dry eyes or worsen dry eyes. Wondering if this is true?
Apparently, people that are outdoors most of the time or with excessive exposure to sunlight are more prone to develop a pterygium or pinguecula. This is strange because I don't spend a lot of time outdoors. I do however spend a lot of time on my computer.
As to alternative things that might help for dry eyes / allergic eyes I have read you can use castor oil. Specifically, 100% organic, cold compressed, hexane free, food grade and it should be in a glass bottle castor oil. I am very eager to give this a try. I am wondering if it is really safe to use in your eyes? Some people have written about major success using castor oil for dry eyes on google.
I have nasal allergies as well. Statistically speaking how many people develop a pterygium and pinguecula? Is this a common eye growth?
I am hoping an expert on this forum will be able to give some advice.
