About a month ago I posted about my experiences with Dry Eye...I was desperate for a solution. I got Lasik done several years ago and ever since my eyes have been very dry, red and I was waking up with Crust on my eyelids.
What I tried before to no avail:
* All four tear ducts plugged
* Restasis for 2+ years
* Low-dose doxycycline
* Refresh night ointment
* Every OTC eye drop one can think of
* Several rounds of steroids due to reoccurring pink eye infections
I had been dealing with the above for years. I finally lost faith on my regular eye doctor to make it better, so I went to a dry eye specialist. He did a thorough exam and took a 3-D image of my eyes which included my upper and lower glands. What we discovered viewing the images is that several of my glands are gone, and I'm producing enough tears but not enough oil.
Here is what my regime has been:
* Lipiflow and a post visit one month after to do an intense heat treatment in the office
* Xiidra twice per day
* Pure HOCI - I've been using both Avenova (rx only) and Heyedrate 2-3 times per day
* Muro128 eye ointment
* Night goggles that do not force my lids shut but retains moisture while I sleep
* PRN fish oil (high concentration)
* Preservative-free drops. I now just use Addipack when needed, which isn't much
* He prescribed alphagon-P (I dilute it heavily with preservative free drops), it whitens my eyes greatly and lasts most of the day. Supposedly no rebound effects like with Visine
Thought I would share. I know we are all different but a lot of what I've been doing above was from reading this board. My eyes are much better than they have been in years. I can go all night without reaching for drops, and only need eye drops 2-3 times per day. Also, I was shocked at how quickly the fish oil worked. I travel for work and forgot to bring it that week, I could feel the difference for sure.
