Just wondering if there have been any updates with dipyridamole eye drops? I know the study was due to be completed Jan 2018 and i’ve Been eagerly waiting for the results.

anyone know of any other treatments?

i’m at The end of my tether with all of this, really losing hope and i’m Only 22, can’t imagine trying to cope with this for the rest of my life

i’ve tried Everything available except for any surgical procedures (probing/lipiflow/IPL). I’ve gotten plugs in and they haven’t helped in the slightest.

i’ve been basically diagnosed with 0 TBUT and scored 2mm in my good eye on schirmers. It’s just confusing that my eyes are so bad, yet my opthomologist hasn’t recommended any surgical procedures?

Unsure what to do next. Willing to try anything. I’m used to having up and down periods with this condition, but i’m Going through a bad down period that just won’t seem to go away, have lost all hope.

    Hi dryeyeLC,

Do you have permanent red veins in your sclera as well? I have been following dipyridamole eye drops since my eyes are completely covered with red veins due to prolonged non cured dry eye and unfortunately vasoconstrictor usage just for 1 week; but I cannot find much about its development. There was a forum for these drops and the last post there is from Feb 2016.. there is only one published article "https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3995373/" which is the basis of research and development idea for dipyridamole eye drops..

      Hi chuto,

thanks for replying. I’m unsure how to describe my eyes, they are half normal during the day but red come night time because my dryness is just so bad. Some days are better than others.

I’m really considering trying these drops, not just for redness but for their ability to improve dry eye overall. I’m going to ask my opthomologist about them in my next apt.

i’ve seen Some positive things about dipyridamole on this forum too and on other dipyridamole websites.

Just would try anything to help help improve the symptoms even by 10%.

Dear dryeyeLC, I hope you can get a positive feedback from your ophtalmologist about these drops. However I had read here that someone had asked this to his doctor and doctor's comment was "I dont think it will work, the proposed mechanism of work of dipyridamole (diluting the vessels first and then with rebound effect they shrink, contrary to what vasoconstrictor eye drops do) does not seem logical". There was just one girl whose nick was ClaireW had positive comments and she had shared a photo of her eyes with less red veins but she deleted her account here and did not continue to post in dipyridamole forum also. Good luck!
