  • Taking a break from Xiidra

My dry eye came back in Sept of 2017 after being dormant for years. I've been on Xiidra for five months with mixed results. It worked great at first and peaked at about three months. Now things are going downhill again with my eye pain getting worse. I'll going to stop it and see how I feel. I'm seeing my doc next week. Anyone else have similar experience with Xiidra?

YES. Restasis worked amazingly well for a while and then completely stopped working after about 18 months. I tried Xiidra after that, which worked even better, but only for about 6 months until it stopped working too. It makes me so sad. I’m running out of options, and I don’t know what I’m going to do now!

I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm on dual therapy restasis+xiidra currently, I'm quite worried that this might happen to me too now -- that the drugs loose its effectiveness. I wonder what is the underlying reason why these immunosuppressants stop working. Maybe try a higher dose?

I'm sorry to hear this too. I've been hearing a lot of that lately.
