  • Pain relief (Gabapentin, Pregabalin) for neuropathic pain?

    Hi all

I have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow to discuss pain relief. My ophth thinks the level of pain I experience is out of proportion with my symptoms and so he thinks it's a neuralgia-type pain.

I would love to hear from anyone who has tried Gabapentin or Pregabalin (Neurontin/Lyrica). What sort of pain did you have? did it help you? What side effects did you experience?

I am very cautious about going on such a major drug and just want to hear some 'real life' experiences rather than what the docs tell you.

    Thank you

I experience severe pain because of MGD every day. Many ophtalmologists I have seen are surprised the ocular signs don't correspond to my symptoms.
If you have MGD, there are not much signs to be found. Only when I went to Dusseldorf where they determined that my glands don't function correctly, it was clear why I am in such pain.
    You're right to be cautious.

I do have MGD (described generally as 'mild') but in nearly two years of treating it, my symptoms haven't improved. I honestly don't know what else I can do and I am desperate to get the pain under control and get my life back.

How are you treating your MGD? Was it described as mild, by the docs? And how exactly did the tests you had help you determine how bad the MGD actually was?

I find that thread really overwhelming and confusing sorry

I'd still be very interested to hear from anyone with experience of Gabapentin or Pregabalin...
