I just wanted to post to give others hope and to help others with similar problems to my own.
I took accutane for 7 weeks at 20mg per day but ceased due to sore joints. About 3 days before stopping my eyes began to feel dry.
I went to 3 optometrists and 2 ophthalmologists and they said I had MGD. they recommended warm compresses and lid hygiene and lubricating drops and said that this is a chronic condition. I was heart broken and so stressed.
I did everything they asked for 9 weeks and saw no change in my eyes.
Finally I decided to get a 3rd opinion and booked in to see Dr Brendan Cronin in Brisbane.
Straight away he said I have inadequate tears and that this was causing my blepharitis. He put in dissolvable punctal plugs and said the extra tears will clean the lids naturally and this will restore the oil/tear balance.
Well its been 3 days and i have done no warm compresses and no lid hygiene and my eyes feel soooo much better. not 100% but probably about 70%.
it is amazing.
i recommend anyone to go to different specialists and keep trying everything you can.
Good luck!! and I would highly recommend Dr Cronin at the queensland eye institute.
