I see both sides, because you don’t typically want to start with the big guns as they are more expensive and come with risks in some casss, especially if something simpler will do. At the same time as a patient we’re suffering NOW and want to feel like all the stops are being pulled out for us. It sounds like maybe your latest doc has the right balance.
Anyway I wouldn’t worry about lost time. I don’t know of any study that shows that AST works best in the 1st month after lasik, for example. In fact on the contrary you can find articles on pubmed that show they still help lasik victims who are 6 months or more post surgery.
