Now he's happy we're on top of any inflammation he's inserted two smart plugs in my lower tear ducts. The reason he went for smart plugs is I've had plugs 4 months ago and they didn't last long before rubbing them out doing my eye massages. I know they can be problems with Smart plugs but we will see.
I’m thrilled to hear this. What good news. I hope they do help you, at least you’ll have the peace of mind knowing you’re doing all the major treatments. Let us know how the AST and smart plugs work for you.

I also understand the tension between aggressive vs conservative treatment. I see both sides, because you don’t typically want to start with the big guns as they are more expensive and come with risks in some casss, especially if something simpler will do. At the same time as a patient we’re suffering NOW and want to feel like all the stops are being pulled out for us. It sounds like maybe your latest doc has the right balance.

Anyway I wouldn’t worry about lost time. I don’t know of any study that shows that AST works best in the 1st month after lasik, for example. In fact on the contrary you can find articles on pubmed that show they still help lasik victims who are 6 months or more post surgery.

They act like serum in crack cocaine in the U.K. It's literally just a hypoallergenic eye drop in my opinion. All eyedrops bother me, except the ones made from my blood. My doc said there was no limit to 20% serum usage. So I use serum in place of any drops. They just feel better. I wouldn't even call that going nuclear, I'd just call that smart.
