Is azasite used topically and can it be used with doxycycline?...thanks

An ophthalmologist prescribed me Azasite whilst I was taking Doxycycline (prescribed by same doctor). He didn't mention any interactions. One is systemic and the other local so it should be fine. I decided not to use the Azasite since it was about $100 for a 5ml tube...a quick way to become poor!! and it doesn't necessarily work for everyone.
