  • What is this ?!?

Sorry for the post but it seems to get worse everyday and I panick.

I can't stop having mucous strings in my eyes, really irritating when they "float" on my cornea, and mostly the inner corners. When I cry the tears stick to my eyeballs and just can't come out of my eyes, Ive never experienced this before and I am really afraid.

Am I the only one to have this? I can't find any post on the subject... I'm still waiting for a "real" diagnosis btw...
My eyes are really "mucousy", they seem to only have one thin layer, especially the left one

I feel really anxious please help me!!!!

I was exactly where you are when I first got this eye issue. Try not to panic. I really think you are dealing with allergies and I guess ocular rosacea. Have you been allergy tested? Also, have you tried any sort of diet for this issue?

Thank you faith, thats a relief. Ive stopped dairy and gluten 2 weeks ago, but no changes at all... I eat tons of vegetables, fruits, fish and meat sometimes, and gluten free bread...
And no I haven't been tested for allergies, but I will make an appt tomorrow

If you have ocular rosacea, be careful how much fruit and grains you consume. These can be triggers and are for me. I sometimes eat berries as they are low in sugar and usually well tolerated. Diet changes can take a long time. My eyes hurt today too . I tried to reintroduce eggs (I am highly intolerant to them) but it didnt work lol so I have to stay away from those too. I mostly follow an anti-candida plan (well try to). I recently tried a juice cleanse and my eyes got worse due to the sugar content. The diet sucks but if you stay on a low carb, low sugar plan it might help?

I just putted drops in my eyes and it seems they can't get into my eyes, I get tiny bubbles after putting them and they irritate my eyes so much tonight.... Is it "normal"?

what tears are you using? I am wondering since you say "you are itchy" and that the tears make things worse that maybe you are having a reaction to them. Are they preservative free?

I thought it could be related too but I switch from several drops (all preservative free) so I think thats not the culprit

I use french drops: Aquarest, Celluvisc, and introduced Cationorm yesterday but it was ok and I used it just once today... I should take a look at the ingredients

If you search on 'filaments' or 'filamentary keratitis' you may find more.

I'm actually struggling with mucous strings a lot in my left eye these days (that's the eye where I have a blocked NLD). It is really, really difficult to NOT touch my eye when I've got those strings... but I KNOW touching them makes it worse, it always does. When they get too much to tolerate I rinse my eye with unpreserved saline and that helps a lot. Not a good thing if you overdo it, but personally, it helps me.
