anterior blepharitis how does it cause dry eye?

Silly question but I'm told I have a little bit of anterior blepharitis, my doc dismissed it as just "lid hygiene" and everyone has some level of it.

I know how posterior effects the glands but unsure how anterior contributes. And is it just "lid hygiene"?

Just to say I am practising lid hygiene using commercial scrubs anyway.
