  • Itchy eyes

I'm very interested in what others think/feel.

My main symptoms are itchiness and redness. The itchiness is mainly in the inner and outer corner. After the itchiness subsides they feel a bit gritty and tight. I have no giant papillary conjunctivitis, burning and very little watering.

My opth. says it's not allergy based as I don't have the bumps on my eyelid.

I am quite allergic to both types of dust mites. My nose is congested and I sneeze in dusty places. I had LASIK 10 months ago, and wore contacts or glasses all the time prior to this.

Could the dryness/irritation still be allergy based, despite the lack of giant papillary conjunctivitis?

This may have been posted elsewhere, I thought it was a great piece about dry eyes and allergies.

try some allergy drops, like pataday, lastacaft, zaditor. if one of them works, its an allergy. if not, it might not be. im quite sure you dont have to have papillary conjunctivitis to have ocular allergies.

        Hi Grant,

Thanks for the advice. I used Alaway for about three week, twice a day. At first it was great, and then it began to make my eyes worse. Now it seems all allergy drops (even preservative free ones) make them redder. Although they help somewhat with the itchiness.

        Any ideas?
