  • Am I an odd case? Can anyone relate (seasonal dry eyes?).

Last spring I exhibited signs of dry eye. This was the May timeframe. It got more annoying over June and in August I was flat out hurting bad.

Started Restasis, drastic diet (think vegetarian w/ a little bit of chicken or fish) changes, HydroEye supplements, fish oil, chia seeds...

anyways, I was being told how winter would suck, it's even worse, etc.

September rolls around, dryness is still there and hurts until about end of that month. October through April I'm absolutely fine. My eyes felt "normal". I was working in front of computer w/ no issues.

This mid-May, eyes a little gritty again. Mid June to early august, eyes feel pretty good. Nothing to complain on here about. Now I'm experiencing that dryness I did last mid-August. Others around me are experiencing allergy issues.

Note that I take allergy shots. Allergies used to take me out of commission and give me flu like symptoms and pneumonia. I don't have that anymore but I am wondering why my eyes (right one) is dry like that again.

Anyways, sorry for rant. And just to give you a little more info... My Schirmer's score was in the 20's for both eyes in mid July. I was feeling good. real good. now it's boom all over again. I should get scored now to see the drop. At it's worst last year it was in the low single digits.

Anyone else w/ "seasonal dry eye"?

I will mention also that 2 yrs. ago I was diagnosed w/ sleep apnea and when the weather is warm, my inner cycle or something gets warped and I don't sleep as well as in the winter.

    anyways, this was a venting/researching thread/post.

I know 20's is high for schirmer's but it doesn't feel that way now having passed a month since the test. Eye feels dry and sticky, gritty, stinging like last time.

I also don't have MGD, per 2 ophthalmologists. And the last one said in July I don't show signs of allergy. My inner lid is red at the moment but no raised bumps.

Then again when I had sinus issues in past from allergies the lining in the nose would get red and inflamed but not typical signs the doctor would expect. I'm weird like that I guess.
