Hello everyone, I just burnt my eyes with a warm compress and it’s very painful and stings. My eyelids have a red mark on them and it stung when I put my drops in. Should I leave off the compresses till my skin recovers? I dont want to cause any further damage

Yes, definitely lay off the compress until your eyes heal. I actually burnt my eyelids early on using warm compress too. Plus I also often had raw and/or dry skin around my eyes from all the things I used to do to try to help the dryness. Applying one of those preservative-free night ointments made of mostly white petroleum and a little mineral oil to the skin helps soothe and speed up the healing...this was suggested by one of my eye doctors and it works well. And if some gets in your eye it’s ok because it’s meant for the eye in the first place. Systane has one, but there are many brands, I’ve even used the drug store’s generic version which costs less.

Hokucat Thanks hokucat I’ll give that a try. It’s gone down slightly over night but I’m still going to avoid warm compresses, to be honest they don’t make much difference anyway. The only thing that helps at the moment is wearing moisture goggles most of the time, eye drops and ointments, and avoiding screens...
