After 8 years of constant pain, I've finally accepted that this is forever. From the moment I open my eyes, until the moment I close them. I never want to open them again.

I’m so sorry...may I ask...what have you tried that’s failed? What’s the reason for the pain, do you have a diagnosis?

I have been dealing with my issue for a year. I finally found a doctor at UIC that gave me a diagnosis. It saved my life. My dry eye was actually signaling a much greater threat. Obstructive sleep apnea...which can kill you. This lead to floppy eyelid syndrome. My schirmer was 3 in each eye, pain through the roof. I was disabled...could not go outside in the wind, be near a fan or an AC vent.

Right now, I feel really good. I have my life back now that I’m afdressing the root cause. I’d love to try and get you on the par to finding yours, if it’s possible.

Raven, we in this forum understand your pain and feeling of hopelessness that things cannot get better. My heart especially went out to you when I read you’ve been suffering with 8 years of constant pain, as I had suffered for 8+ years as well, the last three years being so debilitating that I was literally homebound. But even after all those years I was still able to get better...to the degree where I was able to go on vacation in Europe with my family last month. I was able to do everything they were able to, they didn’t need to hold back because of me. So it is very possible to get better, even after many years of severe dry eyes.

Like Dowork mentioned, perhaps let us know your diagnosis and what treatments you’ve tried. He, as well as several of us in this forum, may be able to help.

        Hi Raven
I had terrible RC erosion for some years, all +8 doctors just/only recommended ointment - which actually blocked glands.
When serious, could not open eyes for 1-3 days.

My (short, sharp) pain was completely gone 2-3 months after LipiFlow.
I think proper warm compress, lid hygiene help + omega 3/GLA etc.
My eyes have been managable. now I have learnt to accept it yet still explore more for more comfort.

If you let us know more, perhaps we could be of help.
If you have gland obstruction, this needs to be removed sooner, for comfort & stop progression.
