    Thanks Glucoa/quottroboy.
I visited +15 docotrs, only 1-2 doctors mentioned it yet one did not do schirmer and another junior doctor did not even know about gland image. So I doubt how accurate their diagnosis were??

I did 13 times schirmer, ranging from *0 (once) to 30 (once). Based on my solid research/experience, Schirmer is not objective.
*such result was from a big Uni. hospital - dr did not even recommend restasis, plugs nor serum.
A professor in another big Uni. did Schirmer (18 & 26) & did not recommend them too - although I did ask for restasis.

Since risk for plugs is pretty low, maybe wont hurt to try??

Yes why not. Of course if your main problem is evaporation then plugs won't help.

But if you can afford them and the time, do it.

The worse that usually happens is over tearing and with me, eye snot.

quattroboy but it’s a bit of a conincidence that I get that inflammation the day after having plugs put in. I use vitapos at night and hycosan extra in the day.

ive had no overflow of tears sadly

I agree. I would recommend going to A&E and let them check.

          They may need flushing out.

quattroboy ok I’ll definitely consider that if the inflammation isn’t gone in the next 24 hours.

SirDryEye has any doctor mentioned ocular rosacea to you? While the redness may be irritation from the plug, the telangiectasias (tiny blood vessels) on the eyelid margin could be indicative of ocular rosacea. Obviously, I am just speculating based on your photo, however, I also have tiny blood vessels like that and the docs told me it’s rosacea. Mine were subtle, I had trouble seeing them with a naked eye. According to two docs, my eyes look better now after the IPL (3 treatments). It is really good for zapping rosacea and shrinking the vessels, and making the glands work again.

Intereztingly, I’ve read that people with ocular rosacea could also have aqueous deficiency that is milder than say Sjogren’s but it’s still there.

Also, according to Dr Korb blonde light skinned people have MDG more often than others. The fact that the plugs did not help may be that your underlying issue is MDG. You need a good doc. Like someone who is really into dry eyes with cutting edge or at least up to date treatments.

SirDryEye my eye looked exactly like this the day after having plugs in. It went away the next day. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about

                  Hi hopeful_hiker
Gerat you have success with IPL.
Do your doctors recommend you do IPL on a regular basis, say every 6-12 months to shrink the vessels?

hopeful_hiker the doctor hasn’t mentioned ocular rosacea. For some reason he hasn’t ran any real tests on me so I’m still in the dark. I’d definitely be open to IPL as a do have mgd (from another doctor) however I have no idea what doctors to go to in London and haven’t got enough money to try everyone.

Yes I am fair and blond so it makes sense that I am susceptible to mgd.

should I try getting both plugged in the future?
Shell259 hopefully it’s gone by tomorrow!

I go to the dry eye clinic in London and see Connan Tam (I think that’s his name)
he seems good and is a nice guy.

Im going to ask if I can try double plugs next time I see him (I mentioned it last time and he didn’t seem against it)
