I've been suffering with RCE for almost 4 years. I've had several flare ups and when they happen I am normally treated with a bandage contact lens with vigamox and tears until it heals.
Finally after several ophthalmologists, the latest one recommended the Diamond Burr surgery. I had the surgery 1 week and 2 days ago. Yesterday I had the BCL removed. Today I am feeling sore, irritated and my vision is terrible. However, this is an improvement from how I've been the last week. I do feel that I'm healing.
The doctor was not very helpful with any information about how the recovery would be. A couple days ago I tried to return to work (coffee shop) and had a lot of trouble doing my job. I am very sensitive to light and my depth perception is off. He did not tell me how long it would be until I was able to work, drive, etc. I asked him yesterday when he removed the BCL if I should start using the Muro 128 ointment again, his response was something like, "Enh, if you want to." I explained how I am terribly afraid of having a flare up, his response, "If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen." In my mind I thought, well isn't that kind of the point of having the Diamond Burr surgery?
I have a couple of questions for anyone who has had this surgery or similar keratectomy.
How soon did your vision return to normal?
How long before you returned to work?
(If for RCE) Was your surgery successful?
