  • Entropian

    Hi,

I've got mgd and my right lower lid always folds inwards and is quite thick compared to left eye, does meibomian gland disease cause entropian? Does anyone else feel like there lids are folding in? When I press on it it turns in to eye ball whereas in left eye I can feel eyelid rim. Is there a link between mgd and entropian?

    Thanks

The International Workshop on Meibomian Gland Dysfunction: Report of the Subcommittee on Management and Treatment of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction:

MGD can be associated with pathologic conditions, such as conjunctivochalasis, entropion, ectropion, or horizontal eyelid laxity....
The incidence of trichiasis, keratinization, and cicatricial entropion secondary to MGD remains unknown.

Thank you Rebecca. I was wondering if mgd could cause imitation entropian symptoms, my lower lid always thickens and this is when it folds in and obviously means meibomian glands aren't pressing on upper lid, but then it thins again, I'm wondering if this is start of entropian or mgd just causing lids to swe and then fold in. I waseant to ask the last ophthalmologist I saw but forgot :s
