  • Who are the top doctors for Dry Eye in the United States?

I want to see someone who’s the best of the best: who truly knows what they’re talking about and is qualified to give highly competent advice on Dry eye. Im looking in New York City Moreso than anywhere else so you’d think there would be little issue finding a highly skilled doctor in this. Though I am still on the search.

I hear Dr Korb might be a good bet?

Yes Dr. Korb in MA is definitely one of the top dry eye specialists (he invented LipiFlow and some artificial tears commonly used), and is not that far from you. Also Dr. Robert Latkany is supposed to be excellent, and he’s in New York.

I am also looking to find someone very good in NYC hopefully. Someone who truly understands and have ideas. I have seen Robert Latkany a few times during the past year. I do feel he is very understanding and knows what he is talking about more than the regular cornea doctor. However, I feel if you have complex and severe issues he may not be the one. If you are pretty savvy in the dry eye subject yourself, you may not walk away with much as far as new idea or approaches. But if you are in NYC you may try to see him - at least you don't have to travel cross country its worth a try. Please do let me know if you find someone in NYC and can share the name!

I second Dr Korb...I will be seeing him next if I still can’t get a resolution. Because I believe there is one, if not, that’s fine, but I believe Dr Korb could definitely help in a complex situation.

I happen to know +30 dry eye opinion leaders in USA as I have watched/read several of their lectures/articles.
I would love to visit the followings - My 6th sense tells me that I can trust them: knowledeable and result-driven.
If I can only select a few, then whose in bold. Please do a bit research by yourselves.
All are professors except Toyos, Desai, Hovanesian, Karpecki, Beckman,Salinger I think.

Seems these are based in New York.
Christopher Starr -- great passion for dry eye
          John Hovanesian
          ----------------------------
          Dr Korb
Laura Periman--Seattle - great passion for dry eye
          Alice Epitropoulos
          Neda Shamie
          Preeya Gupta
Eric Donnenfeld, Long Island? has dry eye
Rolando Toyos (1st dr applied IPL to treat MGD), TN
Neel R. Desai (claims his patient compliance is 100%, a 'win-win')
          Paul Karpecki

          Sheri Rowen
(particularly impressed with her thorough approach
-performs both fluorescein & lissamine green stainings because
''some have tremendous on conjunctiva but no problem in cornea'' she said.
-prescribes either restasis or xiidra once dry eye is being identified (regardless of MGD or aqueous issue)
on the first visit & dont wait, based on my tons of research, she is very right.

          Kendall Donaldson
          Clifford L. Salinger, south Florida
John Sheppard, Elizabeth Yeu --- same clinic
