  • Using eye drops before a dry eye follow up

Should one not use eye drops on the day they have a dry eye follow up appointment?

Depends on the tests being done. Best to check with the clinic I think

I was definitely told when I was waiting for the doctor, do not use any drops or it will interfere with his diagnosis. But again, call the clinic and ask, they may have specific guidelines. No reason to mess up your appt if you can avoid it...also, no reason to suffer without drops either.

        my understanding
at least NOT to apply lipi-based drop, 24 hours prior to the consulation.
If not possible, then at least some hours.
if you take osmolarity test, at least 2 hours without any drop prior to the test, according to Prof. C. Staar.
Normally I dont even perform compress.

If women, best not to apply any skin care products on face, around eyes too,
one professor (can not remember her name but from USA) mentioned this.

Thanks it's a follow up appointment with my usual doctor. Been having some terrible flare ups this last month or so. Thanks
