  • Webinar on blepharitis, mgd and "i-lid cleanser"

I've been using this for about 2-3 months now.

This is another video from the same company. The eye doctor happens to be my main eye doctor.

beagledave: You say you've been using this product for 2-3 months. Have you noticed any dramatic difference?

These are product adverts from NovaBay Pharmaceuticals. Best to question the professional judgement and motives of the doctors involved. The infantilising pushy tone is a sure sign it's sales not science, just in case anyone is in doubt. That is not to say this eyelid cleaner may not be useful. We have to recognise that pharmaceutical companies also use journals and PubMed to spin products. They get short shrift in patient forums though. I felt particularly sick to see Dr Christine Sindt exploit the image of a young female patient with rosacea as a party trick to advertise the product.

Beagledave, thanks for the good info. Hope University of Iowa are looking after you very carefully and you are doing well with your treatments. Do you have grafts for keratoconus in both eyes? are cornea specialists suggesting any other interventions?

Yeah I hoped I was clear the these videos were to promote "i-lid cleanser", while also discussing blepharitis/mgd.

I have a graft in my right eye. I have significant mgd that I've been struggling with for a long time, with all of the usual treatments (except Lipiflow) attempted.

While not a magic bullet, this i-lid cleanser is easy to use, does not sting, and does seem to help. Unfortunately it requires a "prescription", even though it's not covered as a prescription product. It's about $30-35 per month shipped. It smells somewhat like bleach, because it is a very refined version of hypochlorus acid (0.01% I believe)

Thanks, Beagledave - good points on opportunistic flora and fauna. I've always wondered if some unresolved MGD isn't bugs that have escaped detection or antibiotics, bit like a persistent on/off ear infection http://www.reviewofoptometry.com/ema..._pearl173.html
