This also explains why, in my many posts, and as some of you have already suggested, warm compresses make me worse (SO much worse). The Dr. said to definitely stop doing them but to continue with the doxycycline 50 mg/day, indefinitely. This is fine with me. No one wants to be on antibiotics long term, but apparently at this low dose it doesn't really work as an antibiotic but more as an anti-inflammatory.
I've been on it for about a month and Dr. said the signs of the rosacea are much improved. So that's encouraging.
