Hi, I sent you private message because I stupidly didn't see you the new pages on this thread and thought you hadn't posted in a while. I asked you if you were a contact lens wearer at any time, but it also occurred to me...do you know if you sleep with your lids fully closed all night? Has anyone checked that? You might not and you might be a partial blinker. Have you gotten any info on that? I'm a dry eye patient who has done loads of research on Dry Eye, so many things can cause it it's mind boggling and sometimes very hard to pin point the causes, so you have to go down a laundry list of all the possibles and do a process of elimination. The sooner you do that, the better. I don't want to post a long letter here, so if you're interested let me know and maybe I can help you out with that. What type of Dry Eye have you been diagnosed with?

I think I replied to the PM, not sure exactly how it works.
Anyway, no, no contact lenses for me. No one's ever told me i sleep with my eye lids open, I think they might notice, but I can ask too. Also is that something that can all of a sudden develop? Like one day you start sleeping like that every single night?
My diagnosis has been Blepharitis, specifically posterior and MGD. That's all I've heard.
Originally posted by RedEyeGuy View PostSame here. However the last few weeks my eyes haven't bothered me so much, even though they're the same bloodshot red every night. I've moved into a new apartment and the bathroom mirror doesn't make my eyes look so bad, even if they are really red, it doesn't show up so bad. Probably to do with the lighting. The last place I lived, every time I looked in the mirror and saw my eyes it made me feel down. Because I'm not seeing red eyes in the mirror, it doesn't make me feel bad. It's all psychological.

I was put on Tobradex by an ophtho this week, due to my complaining of soreness & crusting near puntal area, but scared to continue using it, since it didn't make me feel good after putting it in. (Cold & tender/burny)
redstudent may want to consider that the prolonged combo of high ghz EMF-electronics plus their outgassing chemicals could be causing her red eyes.
That happened to me after purchase of a horrible Samsung LCD monitor.
And the issue of EMF-chemical-outgassing is mentioned in Invisible Disease (Nordstrom)
Or she may be in prolonged vicinity of people wearing heavy perfume. People with asthma get affected by that, as do those with MCS like myself.
As for "rosacea" (mentioned above) note that many Swedish electrosensitives were wrongly-diagnosed with rosacea, whereas they ought to have been diagnosed with Computer-Radiation, as testified by Dr.Lagerholm, of Sweden. But of course, his testimony was ignored - par for the course the bad guys won. Because the world usually listens most to the Big-Talkers, however false they are.
As for eye ointments, I agree. I don't feel good after using eye ointments (such as those labelled PM). I also felt ughy from Theratears, its contraindicated for me.
What's been sorta OK for me were/are Genteal Severe Gel (red-purple box)
Also: Refresh Plus preserv-free (but not its Walgreens' compare-to version)
Also: Systane Ultra preserv-free
Probably Freshkote would be best of all, if more doctors would only prescribe it.
Because I'm not up to spending that much for little bottles of drops.
Is there some conspiracy to suppress Holly-type drops from mainstream?
Smacks of the suppression of Dr.Becker (Body Electric) re: EMF dangers.Last edited by Minni; 05-Nov-2015, 10:54. Reason: Edit: I recently found out that Freshkote is bad for me, unlike Dwelle. I have acutely sensitive rosacea, and after using it it just makes me feel very burny and sensitive, like I had a long crying jCHEERIO! HELIO! Dry Eye Minni

Redstudent898,
My dry eye problem began when I had mono too!! I really think that's why it started. Here's my theory: mono is very hard on the liver, and the liver is thought to be connected with the eyes. (Chinese medicine and acupuncture especially stresses this connection). Anyway, I asked a doctor about this today and he said that's very true that mono is hard on the liver and the liver is connected with the eyes. The other point I wanted to make is that I would advise against doxycyline....right after having mono I went on doxycycline just like you, but it made my problem much, much worse in the long run. I suffered from unbalanced gut flora and bowel problems after being on the doxycycline for a long time. And besides all that, antibiotics are hard on the liver in that it's your liver that has to filter all those toxins. Well, I'm just now making these connections and am going to start addressing the liver. Follow sazy123, her success story is very inspiring and I'm going to try and similar method to heal as well. I really believe it's possible! PS I'm also 21 and I know how hard this condition is, especially when you're just trying to go to school and be young... I believe we can get better! We just have to work with the body rather than against it. Mono is really, really hard on the body, so really baby yourself to get back in working order (and I really recommend against antibiotics...) Best of luck!

Hi everyone. It's been a very long time since I've posted here. Just want to give an update.
Since I last visited this page (since this problem even began) nothing has improved. I've graduated college now and am working 9-5... medical school is no longer an option with my eyes like this.
New treatments have included a new drop called Xiidra, I've been on it for several months now with no improvement.
Not sure what life plans are now, seems they're more or less slipping away with a disability like this. Socialization isn't possible. Working to improve myself in a career isn't possible.
I don't see an upside to anything anymore, just plain old existence, painful as it may be.
I hope others are doing better than me.
