I'm doing better than I was before. I had my upper and lower puncta occluded. For two weeks my eyes were white and pain free. Then the red came back. During those two weeks I would wake up with moist, and white eyes. Now I wake up with red dry eyes. But I'm still retaining lots of tears. I have to dry off my eyes constantly. It does not make sense why they are still red. Does anyone understand this?

I would really look into the mgd. The punctul plugs are a bandaid. But your meibomian glands are not working so your tears are evaporating.
You need to address the problem at thve root.
Have you had a meibography to see your glands? A manual expression to see what quality oil comes out?
You need those first to see where your eyes are at. Then if its bad oil and glands not working start with IPL.

I had a manual expression, and I was told not enough comes out. Although this was not a very precise test. I seem to have had. a few random days when my eyes were great. IPL and Lipiflow are the only things I have not tried.
Is there a reason I should pick IPL over Lipifow? I'm having a hard time finding an IPL place in Boston. Thank you for the help

here is a list of IPL doctors. They should all do meibography. You must get a gland picture to see what’s happened to yoir eyes.

Its amazing there isn't a single IPL or Lipflow anywhere in Boston or even the entire State. How is that possible?

I found a Lipiflow doc. I had my glands imaged. I still have them. They were blocked. Had Lipifow done two days ago, and there was no improvement. My eyes are still red =/

Yes lipiflow can take a while to see improvement. You may also want to try a round of lotemax gel steroids to help kill the inflammation and help the glands.
Its very multifactored.
For me i needed steroids + IPL + occusoft hypocholoric acid + warm compress twice a day + goggles.
Im still unable to work right now. But ive seen a lot of improvement. Im actually in Texas now getting scleral lenses.

Here is what I really don't understand. So far no doctor has taken the time to really think about this question. They just rattle off a canned list of vague answers.
After I got my puncta occluded, my eyes were WHITE for almost two weeks. They are still moist, I am constantly wiping excessive tears off my eyes. They don't hurt any more. But they went back to being red.
What can possibly be causing the redness?

Lots of symptoms such as red eyes, veiny, itchy, dry, burning. Who knows. The eye is simply too complex. Its an amazing thing, the eye. Stupifyingly complex.
No pain is awesome. Sorry about the redness. I would still really investigate how to get thise glands going.
