  • Trying to push my boundaries

    Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to push my boundaries. Since my dry eye, I have been either at work or at home. For the last few days, I have been trying to be more social and stuff that I was enjoying. Actually I am typing this post from coffee shop right now. The only problem is that I feel this burning in my eyes and get the headache when I go into public places which I try to ignore and tolerate. My question is, am I damaging my eyes more?

I really feel uncomfortable wearing big onion moisture chamber especially while I am dancing.

I think that is the case. Will it do long term damage?

I don’t ever have staining personally. So im assuming, for me, my pain isn’t related to actual damage. Dr Cremers once said, if you feel your eyes, you’re creating scar tissue, you shouldn’t feel your eyes. So I’m not sure what to believe. Do you wear moisture chambers out of the house?

No I felt a bit self conscious wearing moisture chambers. I think I have to wear it anyway

It won't cause damage as far as I'm aware. Maybe, try increasing oil in your glands incase its evaporative ? Or try to if possible avoid ac?

Glad to hear you are trying to push your boundaries and get on with life. If your eyes are uncomfortable out and about and the moisture chambers help then wear them. If you feel they are too goggly try the type with the silicone gasket they are not so obvious. I know that you are of Asian descent so may have trouble getting a good fit so make sure you try them on first.

For coffee shops: not all of them have the same humidity. You may notice Starbucks and Blenz usually are not as dry as others. You can buy a humidity measure device (I forget what it’s called) and find the place that has the highest humidity and locate seats that are further from the vents.

For socializing: at this point in time moisture chambers don’t help me (my symptom is blinking discomfort mostly) except for strong winds. I still use them on the computer just in case as well.
When I do something strenuous, I take precautions. I.e. use gel drops more diligently (maybe every 30 minutes instead of 2-3h), I also carry serum with me in a thermos with ice (I use it hourly in low humidity), and I would close my eyes periodically with gel in them. This way I can get through challenging environments. Maybe this type of approach could help with your activities but, of course, everyone is different.
