Eczema on eyelids help!

i suffer from MGD and I suspect that the long term eczema on my eyelids have attributed to my gland loss due to inflammation. I’m really worried that I cannot get rid of it and it’s causing further damage. Does anyone please know what I can do to get rid of it? I’ve looked everywhere but rheee doesn’t seem to be a reliable definitive way. Anyone had and personal experienced or know of anyone who has over come this problem?

My daughter has eczema, she’s sensitive to our water at home. So maybe look into your water. What’s the PPM? Meaning, is it hard and full of calcium, lime and rust or is it purified city water? Some people are sensitive to the chlorine or the salty water (high ppm). Our house for example, we have well water and a water softener, it’s horrible for our skin. Ideally, if you have the money, you would do a whole house reverse osmosis unit. However those cost about 15-20k. So not cheap, but we’re currentky building a house and that’s a necessity.

Some people use coconut oil on their lids to safely moisturize them. Just make sure to get a high quality, cold press, extra virgin. As long as its pure and not chemically extracted, it should be safe to go into your eye. Coconut oil is great for eczema.

I think you have a good idea here. Somethings effecting your skin and that very well may lead to inflammation in the gland. If you have the money/time, why not see a great dermatologist and see what they suggest. Or maybe an external disease specialist. They may have more options for treatment than what we could offer you here.

I have the same problem. Every two months i get exzema on eyelid but it clears up with antibiotics cream in two days.

Can you share a picture of your eyelids?

Are you certain it's eczema and not allergy or signs of blepharitis?

No I’m not 100% sure it’s eczema at all, but I thought blepharitis is more swelling of the lid margin. This feels and looks like eczema to me. I’ve had it for years apparently but I’ve never ever noticed until a year ago.

Well looks like eczema from the picture. But I would advice you to confirm the diagnosis from a skin specialist as skin conditions are very tricky to diagnose. There could be multiple diagnoses for a single dermatological manifestation.

Be it eczema or blepharitis I believe this could be the actual cause of your dry eye. From my personal experience I believe that inflammation has the biggest role to play for the malfunction of the meibomian or lacrimal glands. If you can successfully treat and eradicate the cause of inflammation you could dramatically improve your situation. For you your eyelid inflammation is most likely the cause of MGD. Consult a reputed doctor and treat your eyelid condition and see if it makes a difference. Might sound insignificant but sometimes small things make a huge difference.
