Can you get special consideration for exams for dry eyes?

I'm just about to start my exams soon at university and my dry eyes are having a very bad flare up at the moment and its becoming difficult to read for more than 30 mins at a time. I'm with an eye specialist on the NHS and I've been going to the doctors about this for years so is it possible to get some help with my exams? Has anyone ever done this before?

Carly, my d has - she is doing A2. We register in advance with the Exams Officer at school and they keep records so that we can appeal or report problems to the Exam Boards, if needed as 'extenuating circumstances'. We use the Consultant's letter to confirm diagnosis, and list difficulties.

Concessions we got are: sit anywhere, use meds and drops during exams (transparent bag, no packaging), 'stop the clock' and leave the room while still invigilated, wear sunglasses. The principle being that the knowledge is being tested not the medical condition.

Another option, if it's bad, would be to request provision for partially sighted students, and even request an amanuensis and reader. I used to do this as support staff and dictation takes practice if you're not used to it.

Best to call in to see Uni Support staff for advice asap. I normally describe it as chronic eye inflammation to get a better response.
