Upper eyelid mucus?

I have been having some blurriness that I can't eliminate by finding mucus strings in my eye, and I am wondering, do you get mucus inside your upper eyelid, too? Is there a way to see them? If I rinse with saline, sometimes I can get a great big gob of goop out, that I didn't see before the rinse, and then can see clearly for a while. Is there any massage that I can do to move this goop down to the bottom where I can see it and remove it? Also, what do you "dabbers" use when your eye waters? If I use Kleenex, it feels like I get lint in my eye from it. Also, some of my tears are "teary" and some are "sticky". The teary ones don't bother me as badly as the sticky ones.
