  • Punctal cautery

    Hi!
    Some good/ bad news
For anyone that read my previous posts, I made it to Asia and have had the best two weeks. Eyes included as I think the humid weather helps.
However im 95% sure my top plugs have come out, probably due to me having been a lot more active here than at home.
Ive noticed the last couple of days I haven’t had any overflow and my eyes are back to being very red and horrible looking again, not what you want on holiday.
I have another two weeks here, but I’m thinking of getting punctualcautery done on the top ducts when I get home, so I don’t have to worry about this again.
Is there anywhere in the uk that people recommend for getting this done?
Or on the off chance if someone can recommend somewhere for me to get plugs put in maybe in Thailand that would be great too.
    Thanks!

Have a close look at the corner of your eye. Umbrella type plugs are highly visible and regular activity shouldn't make them fall out unless it involves touching your eyes.

If you normally have overflow I would question if you even need plugs because overflow is an indication that you need more drainage. I surely would not jump to cautery unless you are positive it is necessary.

I’ve looked and can normally see them, but no longer can.
Having all 4 plugged as been the only real thing that helped in regards to both pain and redness, so I’m happy to put up with looking like I’m crying from time to time.
Theyre red today to the point I think I may have an infection, but I also think it might just be related to losing the upper plugs and they have now become very irritated

I don't know if they perform this surgery, but my first points of call if I was looking to have this done would be

        Prof. O'Brart http://davidobrart.co.uk
        and
        Prof. Dua: https://www.laservision.co.uk/consul...harminder-dua/

Both being ophthalmologists with extensive dry eye experience.

Glad to hear things have mostly been going well in Asia. Am interested to know how much improvement in redness you saw when things were at their best?

This may not help you any, but this is who did my cautery for me when in Penang (Malaysia): https://www.isec.my/doctor/dr-adrian-tey/

Anyhow, I wasn't sure what your itinerary was... if by some chance Penang is on it, this will be useful... if you're staying in Thailand the entire time, then my info won't help, so sorry!
