    UPDATE:

    Hello Everyone,

I went to a eyelid specialist and the doctor concluded I do not have Demodex. The doctor said I have MGD and I need to continue with warm compression atleast thrice a day and keep taking fish oil for atleast 6 months to feel any improvement. I am also suppose to be using the eye drops for lubrication 3-4 times day.

I continue to feel foreign substance (gritty feeling) in my eye from time to time. My eyelid swelling in the morning still persists. I still sleep in the AC and wont be able to sleep without it so do you recommend I wear eye goggles to cut out the AC from drying my eyes? Any other recommendations to cope with MGD and morning eyelid inflammation ?

    Thank you all

      Hi again!
The gritty feeling is very frustrating, when I first had dry eye it lasted for months, the fish oil I took made a huge difference but it does take a while, so don't give up on it. Have you tried a cold mask to help with the swelling? They are very cheap, just go in the freezer and pop then on your eyes for 10 mins to bring down the swelling. Do you have some night time gel to put in your eyes at night too? They are quite thick and help some dry eye suffers eyes stay moist overnight, does take a while though to find the right brand though.
People have recovered, so can we.

Hi waterbee, Yes the gritty feeling is very frustrating. It has improved a tad bit since I stopped wearing contact lenses, started talking fish oil and most helpful was the hot fermentation which makes my eyes feel oily when the oil is secreted from the gland and makes my vision slightly blurry for a few minutes after.

I tried using Genteal Ointment for overnight but then by the morning there would be white flakes around my eye and the swelling was still there so I stopped putting the ointment. Would you recommend any? I feel they will probably block the glands overnight.

Which fish oil did you take? Pls share the product name.

        Thanks

The overnight gel you use I've never tried, but it sounds like it's a bit to oily for your eyes, maybe that you need to read up on the different types of gels and select the least oily ones, I used to use one called lacralube which I found very good, but gradually as my eyes improved it became to oily for me too, so now I use a oil based drop insted, clintas or one called thealoz (not the bottled one though) but really I think it's just a case of looking around and trying differnt things. I wonder too if your eyes might benfit from bring cleaned with some thing like blephagel or an lash scub, I found these all helped a lot (in fact it was only after I started keeping the lashes clean I was able to stop the over night gel) cleaning brings down swelling and inflamation so really benfits everyone, I wish I started sooner.
I use a brand of fish oil called omega eye, it's recommended by many opthomogists but quite expensive compaired to other brands, so might be worth trying a cheaper brand first and moving on to that if the cheaper brand doesn't work. I found it to be the only effective fish oil I've taken.
