  • Sea Buckthorn Oil

This is second hand info that I did NOT verify. My eyes were bugging me, so I just decided to follow this person's advice and go with it. I'm sharing this so anyone interested can do their own research to see if this is indeed important.

So, "Liz" said that it should be SBH24 sea buckthorn oil because that's the one which has been studied the most. I did not verify this, but as I said, decided to go with it anyways. She's been in the group a while and based on her post history, I think odds are high that she's sincere. Is she good at internet research? I don't know... but like I said, my eyes were bugging me too much to devote time to this, I thought the odds of harm were low, so I decided to just trust her. Please do your own research though, or, if you decide to just go with it, know there's a chance we're going down the wrong path here.

I went to this website (that "Liz" recommended) to find distributors of SBH24 Sea Buckthorn Oil: https://www.pharmanord.co.uk/all-pro...health/omega-7

One thing I noticed is that different distributors can have variations in the product contents. I bought one that had the same composition of fatty acids as the one that "Liz" used (she shared photo of the packaging for the product she was using... but this is a photo of mine, ingredients match hers exactly):

I have been taking this everyday for the past 12 months. This is what every doctor and optometrist I have seen here in the UK has recommended. The brand is important in terms of quality, and this is the go to brand. That said, I can’t say it has made any difference but I’m afraid to stop taking it as it might make things worse, something I don’t even want to think about at this point.

It is quite pricey in my opinion, I buy it when there is a 2 for 1 offer at the local health shop.

I have been taking exactly the same product you shared the link and then I switched to another brand that I can find in my country (I had bought the one you shared from an English webside but due to custom problems I can no longer get them) and the recommended daily dosage is 500mg, so I take 1 capsule in a day. So far I havent noticed an improvement in my MGD induced dry eyes but as Alix said, I am not sure if I stop it things will go worse, so I keep using it daily with Omega 3 fish oil.
As a separate note, it is really helpful to read your posts SAAG thank you for your detailed inputs but sometimes they are really long that due to my eyes I cant complete reading them.

It may be worth trying a higher dose than 500mg per day... that study used a daily dose of 2 g.

That's good to know. I don't think these have caught on where I'm from, since I've never had a doc suggest it yet. Hopefully they'll help... time will tell.

I hear ya. When things are bad, there's no way one wants to risk cutting out a treatment if there is any chance it could be helping.

I took this product for a bit 3 months and felt no change. That’s not say it won’t help you, but it would be best to seek more advanced treatments

I appreciate the suggestion, but yeah, I've tried every treatment available to me (and there are some I am interested in traveling for if I need to, but that has to wait for now)

                Hi SAAG
I dont know your key issues but BlephEx and debridement are effective (& economical) to control inflammation
(remove years of sticky biofilm for example). They are not on your list.

pure Hypochlorous Acid (like Avenova or NatraSan spray, I have found more than 1.5 years ago),
helps to control bacteria but it can not penetrate - with more learning now I believe so.

Thank-you for the suggestion. I don't have access to those types of products where I am now, but it's definitely a product/treatment category that I've been following for a while now. However, my lid and lash margins don't have any visible build-up, and never have. So I'm not convinced it's likely to help me. In any case, I'll continue to follow the discussions on it, in case something comes out that convinces me it is likely to be useful in my case.
