  • Diagnosed w/add'l eye problem: Basement Membrane Dystrophy Recurrent Corneal Erosion

I was so unhappy to be diagnosed with Sjorgens because I had hope of my eyes getting better before that diagnosis.

Then a couple days later I see the local dry eye expert and he diagnoses me with Basement Membrane Dystrophy Recurrent Corneal Erosion Syndrome:

Has anyone heard of this? I wonder if this condition is as a result of dry eyes or not? No other doctor diagnosed me with it and i saw other doctors before this. He gave me RX for Xibrom which I have been using. Kinda helps a little.

I have another eye problem too, this one neurological, eye movement with visual stimuli of any kind causes a lot of nausea. ( happened right after I had my upper neck adjusted at a new chiro) for 6 weeks straight and continuing. And the dry eyes have not improved since it began 6 months ago.

So I am really hateful of my eyes now not knowing what they will do next. I would ask some of the questions to the eye doctor but just had no opportunity, the appt was so short.

    Hi Vicki,
I have limited time to answer you fully on the dystrophy part but I would advise you get in touch with Hope for Sight and their bulletin board (od a google search to find them) to find out people with that same diagnosis... should it be correct OSD are very complex and several diseases are very similar... so very hard to get a good diagnosis.
The good aspect is that since we have similar conditions on many aspects we may benefit from the same treatments.
    take care
