Artificial tears making eyes worse in long run

I have a question about artificial tears. have you ever come across artificial tears making the eye worse than they were before use? for example, just say my eye discomfort is 5/10, I then put in artificial tears which bring it to 0/10 but then when the artificial tears wear off it doesn't return to 5/10 discomfort, it goes to like a 9/10!!

Any thoughts?

I have the opposite experience - when I put them in, it goes up to a 8/10, then 15 minutes later, it's a bit better. But as for your case, maybe the initial lubrication helps, but there is some ingredient in the dry eye drops that is causing a reaction?
