  • Daily Check-In

I thought it'd be cool to have a thread where people can just post how they're doing, what they're doing, how their eyes feel, etc. (ie nothing important or substantial)

My eyes are feeling pretty good today, and I'm trying to get all my Xmas presents wrapped. It's been really warm in the DC area recently, which has been nice.

I'm game! This is now an official Sticky.

I woke up with my lashes all crudded over from putting on too much Dwelle without blotting, but my eyes felt good and they feel good now. I've been using (and loving) my little 5mL saline tubes because I can't find Unisol anywhere (well to be fair I haven't looked everywhere yet) and haven't ordered online because I'm still holding out hope.

Haven't started my Christmas shopping yet

I'm doing ok today. My right eye is sloshing a bit, as per usual. I have had my contacts in for 4 1/2 hours and I think that will be it for the day. I really need to get my prescription evaluated, I can't see with the darn things! Rebecca, you might check Rite Aid if you have not done so yet. I believe that is where I got Unisol. I finished my Christmas shopping today, now for the wrapping. Have fun all!

        Wish I was

Mine are bone dry from the fatigue, travel etc. I'm not sleeping good (multiple reasons). I always find that my eyes really suffer when I don't sleep.

We are not doing Christmas this year, we thought...but I have slowly dwindled the living room table decorations out. And I have had really surprise holiday packages from our two sons. They are far away. And a good friend called to inquire about our Mayo trip and told me they are bringing Christmas dinner for us. Such a treasured friend. So Christmas is coming together even tho I haven't been able to do much.

        Happy Holidays all of you.

          Kiaora from NZ!
My eyes have not been good. Had to have plugs put in again last week and was given Flucon for a week but they are still sore (inflammation goes into my face on right side) so stopped the Flucon(has BAC) and am using Dwelle(It is miles better than anything else) and a little Nutratear in the day and Alcon poly gel at night. I have stopped using Systane Free earlier too. The NZ Alcon people have just sent an email and they are couriering me some Alcon poly gel to replace the Systane Free. Great response!!
Also I got a real buzz out of taking some of my piano pupils to visit a rest home yesterday morning - the senior citizens make a wonderful audience singing and tapping feet etc(we played mainly Christmas carols) and the kids really rose to the occasion - played well and loved the feedback!! It was great to see the reaction of my 2 newest students playing for the first time to an audience!
The weather has come right (warm and sunny) and all the family are coming here for Christmas . We hope the weather stays good as the grandkids will want to camp on the lawn!!

Have a Happy Christmas everyone and here's to lots of happy eye days in 2007!!
          Cheers and take care

            Hi everyone!

Great idea for this thread! My eyes have been doing quite well lately. I'm kind of at the tail end (I think atleast) of a pretty good streak. Usually its just a good day, bad day, then maybe two good days, 3 bad days, something like that. But for the last 3 weeks, with the exception of a few bad days here and there, I've been doing quite well (maybe it is that warm weather in DC )! Ofcourse, I think this is ending because for the last two days I've been without my Systane Free . I'm trying some new things, but my eyes are pretty irritated from switching things up. I just called the Systane Free Hotline and requested a refund instead of regular Systane since those drops are no good for me. She took a note and said her supervisor would call back, so hopefully I'll get my money back. I have numerous bottles, opened and unopened so it would be nice. I might be able to take the unopened ones back to the store too. Anyway, overall I've been doing well lately, and am enjoying this holiday season much more than last year when I was feeling really down after my lasik. So, I am thankful for how far I've come, and thankful for all of you! Happy Holidays!! I hope everyone's is happy AND comfortable .

Eyes are so-so. Right lid swollen. I have a cold, and my lips are all distorted with cold-sore blisters--great! I'm going to hide at home for the holidays. Snow outside. Doing weird paint job on some walls inside my house--ORANGE!
Good to hear from you Dotanne! Did you get your new Rx-Wiley-X?

Gee, with the holidays upon us, I don't want to post much negativity, but I'm going through a particularly bad time lately. I have had 3 corneal erosions in the past 5 days. My vision is so crappy from Lasik, and I feel like I cannot take it anymore. I'm in a lot of eye pain and other miscellaneous pain from autoimmune disorder. Hopefully in a few days I'll be a little better.

I"ve been using Freshkote for about 3-4 weeks and I think it is a little better for me, but then I started up with the frequent erosions all over again.

                Wishing everyone a happy holiday!

                  erosions help??

I had 2nd debridement done in Nov...Right eye was done last Feb at Mayo using a diamond burr...healed wonderfuly...Left eye started up this fall..Debridement done by local opth using a blade...They took off bandaid lens too soon...So back to Mayo...Doc there suggested using muro 128 for short time to help the layers stick together and heal. Haven't read too much about Muro 128, so thought I would add my experience.

I am still waiting for my RX Wileys (takes ages here in NZ as they send to Australia) but I have bought plano Wiley Xs which have been very good in the meantime - fine for distance vision and I can wear them indoors too as they are light adjusting, but can't read any print! I have fixed up my Adidas goggles with insert lens with some blu tack and now the insert doesn't keep coming out. The Wileys give more protection though. I have that Lucy feeling - I seem to be collecting glasses!
                    Cheers all

Having a great time of it, kicking back on the farm, weather hot and humid, limited drops, mornings still tough but sleeping through the night now - whoo hoo!!!!

RCE's still around in the right eye - vision off as a result. Stopped Restasis (got too difficult to store open vials due to the heat, so stopped it all together. No medical foundation, just couldn't be bothered - haven't really noticed any difference and used it for 7 months).

Have a fantastic day - mine was certainly a good one, unfortunately not everyone was granted the opportunity to have this day - we just have to make the most of it. I remember my sister saying to me when she was having cancer treatment - "Every day is a good day, some are just better than others" - how true she was.

                      Cheers

I have been doing better for about the last 5 days. I suppose it can be a combination of many factors including delayed healing post-LASIK, warmer weather, time off from work during the holidays with family, fish oil, good diet, destroying demodex, restasis, 2 compresses per day (15 minutes each), 100 mg doxy, aloe vera "juice", and my dad's most excellent massages .

I am hopeful that the positive trend will continue although it will be a challenge since I will be back to work tomorrow with winter weather approaching .

I have tried to prepare myself that seeing improvements in my condition will likely at best be a two steps forward, one step back approach. I am glad to have taken two steps forward this past week and I will hope and pray for further progress.

Hopefully the holidays, global warming, and any other positive factor is providing some form of dry eye relief to all of us on this BB. With warmest (and most humid) regards .

I'm having some bad days, actually the last 6 weeks. Lots of itching, burning and what I think is reflex tearing since I got quadri-plugged. Made an appt. with my doc for early next year (ha ha, next week) to have the plug placement checked. I'm not sure what is worse, 4 plugs or no plugs! Other than that, feeling peachy!

Hello everyone!! This thread is a really good idea because I do wonder how everyone is doing day to day. I like to visit this website almost every time I get online even if I do not post. My eyes are about the same, but I am doing better emotionally. I know that some days will be better than others. My eyes are kinda bothering me right now because I went jogging and it was cold outside. That has to be right up there with Wal-mart for irritating my eyes. I went shopping with my sister yesterday and it went pretty good. I always worry that my eyes are going to be really irritated and people are going to notice. I put in some drops before I went in and that helped alot. Sometimes when I go into a store and my eyes start bothering me, I feel such extreme anxiety that it almost feels surreal. Does anyone else do that? I also feel really really scared when I wake up at night and my eyes are so dry. I just want to lay there and cry, but I know my eyes will be worse. This stuff really messes with your head.

Silverlady, I gather from reading your posts that your life is majorly affected by your dry eye. I really hope that you find some relief. I am sorry that everyone has to be here. Maybe one day dry eye will be a thing of the past. God bless.

I have had a couple of relatively slow days at work, primarily near the PC with the humidifier under my chair. Since it's been slow, I brought my Hygrometer (measures humidity level) to the office since I definitely see a connection between my eye comfort level and the humidity level. This morning, my office humidity level was about 30% when I arrived. It was also about 30% in my car. In both places, my eyes were feeling dry and irritated when the levels were this low.

At home and in the office after the humidifier was turned on, the humidity level ranged from 40%-50%. What a difference 10-20% humidity makes on my eyes! Also, I noticed that when I move the hygrometer only about 7 feet away from the humidifier source, the humidity level drops to the low 30% range. Also, if my office door is open allowing a draft to enter, then the level in my office (including right by my chair) drops about 5-8%.

Hopefully my eyes will continue improving and I won't be so dependent on humidity to function. I remember just a few months ago when a humidifier under my desk gave me very little relief. At least for now I am at least getting some decent relief as long as the humidity level is over 40%.

Also, I was thinking ... since I do 15 minutes of warm compresses twice a day, can I multi-task and incorporate yoga into this routine . I'm not a yoga expert and would have to learn more about it, but I will say that the 30 minutes a day I spend doing compresses certainly leaves time for reflection and meditation. Just a thought.

I try to write shorter posts, but I don't think it's in my genetic make-up to do so. Hope everyone is doing well.
