  • blepharitis - how to improve the appearance

    Hi,

I am a 40 year old female. I have MGD and occular rosacea and developed obvious blepharitis two years ago - eyelids (especially right one) are looking puffy, eyelashes are thinned and brittle. Cold compresses are somewhat helpful. I tried IPL without and with expression, Lipiflow once but don't see significant changes. Also doing warm compresses, eyelid wipes, serum tears, taking FML steroid 2- x week, doxy 40 mg and metronidazole cream 2 x day. Anyone in the same boat? On my last visit with cornea specialist he said corneal surface looks good, no staining etc but low TBUT. I am also trying to improve the appearance of my eyes a little. Any tips? Thank you.

    Hey OVY

Did you have one of those images done to check the state of your Meibiom glands?

After getting my first stye about 7 years ago and seeing about 5 different optometrist over the years (only to be told just use a warm compress) I’ve now discovered that I have MGD and maybe something called ocular rosacea.

Im in the same situation with the eyelashes and inflamed right eye lids.

Im going to try the IPL soon, in desperate hope. Did it have any improvement for you at all?

Hello, I have ocular rosacea and rosacea of the face also. I had my first IPL treatment yesterday. I am also on Xidra. I've suffered from this condition for about 25 years now - I gave up a while back on trying to fix it because they used not to be many treatments and nothing I tried works. It seems like there are more options now so I am making a renewed effort to try to get to the bottom of it. I am having 4 IPL treatments. I had the first one yesterday. So far, not much to report. The doctor did say that you don't see much progress after the first treatment. I will will report back here on my progress after the next once which is scheduled for two weeks time.
