I recently read an article from Pub Med (NIH.org) that showed a study of those taking low dose oral finasteride (for hair loss) that had developed MGD. The study groups were divided between those taking 5mg versus 1 mg. While I take a mere 0.25. I am curious if this is making my eyes worse. Has anyone on this forum who is taking low dose finasteride experienced this particular side effect?

I've never taken finasteride but I used dutasteride (similar medication, also a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which blocks conversion of testosterone to di-hydro-testosterone) topically on my scalp for a few weeks and it seemed to make my MGD worse.
0.25mg per day is a low dose but it's possible this is having a negative effect on your eyes. It's hard to say theoretically and it depends on your testosterone levels. Topical finasteride is less likely to cause harm, or you could look into topical minoxidil.
