  • I need urgent advice !

I really need your advice on October 26, I underwent bilateral HA filler injections in the scalp area, above and behind the temples. For cosmetic reasons that slightly create lifting of the midface … clarified that the cannula traveled approximately two inches diagonally upward and backward, deep beneath the hair-bearing scalp, close to the skull.

Within hours of the procedure, my previously stable dry-eye condition suddenly became significantly worse, with dryness and aching pain in both eyes, often alternating between them.

One particularly unusual observation is that I seem to have much less natural tearing, even when I become emotional. I realize this does not necessarily establish decreased lacrimal gland secretion, but it concerns me.

During your October 29 examination, you observed a low tear meniscus, although the tear breakup time appeared reasonably normal and there was no significant corneal staining.

After the filler was partially dissolved, I initially noticed that my eyes felt considerably more moist, although theimprovement did not last. I also experienced scalp tightness and pulling sensations after the original injections, which have since subsided.

On November 3, my chiropractor performed a gentle muscle-release treatment around my scalp and temples. Interestingly, my eyes subsequently began feeling somewhat better, although I certainly cannot establish a connection.

My biggest question is whether the deep scalp injections could have indirectly influenced my blinking, eyelid position, or tear secretion through tissue tension, inflammation, or temporary nerve irritation.

I understand that the nerves in the posterior scalp are not themselves responsible for producing tears, and that the main lacrimal secretory pathways are located much closer to the orbit and deeper structures.

Nevertheless, I came across a few medical publications that made me curious about possible indirect mechanisms:

    1. Posterior Temple Filler and Tissue Tension

Nonscarring Alopecia After Temporal Lifting Technique With Dermal Fillers — JAAD Case Reports, 2023

This publication describes how filler placed in the posterior temple region can increase tissue tension and reposition facial soft tissues. Although the injection plane and complications described differ from my case, I found the mechanical aspect interesting.

    2. Facial Nerves and Eyelid Closure

Nerve Supply of the Eyelids — American Academy of Ophthalmology EyeWiki

This article discusses how the temporal and zygomatic branches of the facial nerve contribute to eyelid closure and blinking.

    3. Nerve Pathways and Tear Secretion

Patterns of Innervation of the Lacrimal Gland With Clinical Application — Clinical Anatomy, 2014

This anatomical study describes the involvement of the zygomaticotemporal nerve in the lacrimal gland's secretory pathways within the orbit.

I fully understand that none of these publications establishes that my procedure caused nerve injury or impaired tear production. I mention them only because I am trying to understand whether some indirect connection might be anatomically plausible.

My immediate dilemma is whether to dissolve the small amount of remaining filler or allow more time for natural recovery.

Because my eyes have recently shown some improvement, I am reluctant to undergo another procedure unnecessarily. At the same time, I worry that leaving the remaining filler might prolong tissue tension or irritation if it is contributing to my symptoms.

Would you personally favor waiting another week or two while monitoring my recovery, or do you see a medical reason to remove the remaining filler sooner?

I realize there may not be a simple explanation, and I certainly do not expect you to have all the answers.

and would be deeply grateful for your guidance. My greatest hope is simply that my eyes will return to the comfortable condition they enjoyed before this procedure.

one thing is unusual for compressor now Creating, constant eye ache …
that never was the problem I think along before I had and I still have MGD but right now to me, it is tears Production dysfunction … very recently, my wife died and so many things on my shoulders, but I was totally fine with the Dry Eyes prior to procedures.
please advise … if there is a any nerve irritations responsible for producing tears what can I do with anything is available to stimulate them in that area ?
