  • Happy Lasik Anniversary to me...

One year ago today I had the "15 minute miracle" that would change my lfe. Boy, they sure weren't wrong about that. Severe dry eye does turn your world upside down. Yesterday was so bad, I seriously started thinking about how I could support myself and keep my house if I had to quit my job or step down from my current position to one where I have less responsibility.

Anyone being told that Lasik is a "cure" for dry eye or that pre-existing dry eye is not at an increased risk for post operative chronic dry eye should find another MD pronto. Or make them sign a release form that they will pay for all of your future eyecare if they are so confident in that position.

Anyway, punctal plugs are doing nothing for me and I am not even sure they are still even in there. I am seeing the specialist on Tuesday to discuss "next steps".

    Wish me luck.

I have never responded to my surgeon"s phone call offering his apologies. It's only a last ditch effort to save himself and my compassion does not extend to physicians who only develop ethics under duress.

Natalie, tomorrow will not be your lasik anniversary so let's look forward to that. Funny, how this day seems to be etched in our mind if our wonderful 15 minute miracle--wasn't.

Let's hope this next year brings you some well deserved relief.

It is always difficult when the anniversary year comes around. I had no problem with tearing on my first anniversary date, I think I just sat around and cried most of the day and then filled the rest of a day in with an icepack.

It is a challenge, I am coming up for 2 years now but I can assure you that thing have improved during the past 12 months for me. Whilst I am not back to my pre-lasek comfort, I am certainly a lot better off than I was at 6 months. I can only hope you experience the same.

I get up every morning, look at my red eyes in the mirror and promise myself that this is not going to go on forever. Obviously some days I believe my own promises, other days I struggle with it.

I am absolutely confident that we will get through this someone. When I fall off the rails, I have a couple of down days, then I get the enthusiasm back and start fighting the symptoms again.

Take care of yourself, try not to think about it too much and don't blame yourself, I know it is easy to say, but keep faith in the fact that things will get better and you will get better at dealing with it.

      Warm regards

        Dear Natalie,

Have you tried Rebecca's rice baggy, it really helps. I mean I have
had lasik induced severe I mean severe dry eye for three years now.
Only recently, I bought Rebecca's rice baggy and read Dr. Latkarny's book.
Have you tried to express the oil from your ME glands?

Have you tried Dwelle from Dr. Holly, Rebecca sells this.
It is a very effective eye drop.

There is Restasis too. I was so desperate that I bought many things from
Dry Eye Shop and they all seem to help.

Also you can try to buy some protective eye wear.

        Good luck to you.
