  • Stuffy ears

Has anyone experienced stuffy ears with their dry eyes? Is there a connection? I also get a sort of dizziness that makes me feel as though I am on a rolling ship. I just started getting these symptoms this month but my GP says I do not have a wax problem. Just gave me Otrivine. Just blames it on the Eustacian tubes. I was OK flying last week - no different from the usual and no pain.

    Yes

    Hi.
Apparently yes, there is a link between stuffy ears and dry eyes. At least, it is my case as I suffer from Ichtyosis and thus a general dryness of the body... Therefore according to my doctor, stuffy ears is one of the symptoms...
Hey, nobody said life would be easy right? Please mum, next time you give birth to me, spend more time on the conception of my eyes, okay?

Were you ever diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome? That is a common problem with Sjogren's and I believe the rolling floor symptom is too. I'll get some more info for you.

Could be sinus/eustatian tube problem. The puctua and sinus are all tube/voids in the skull which are integrated. Dizziness suggests inner ear problem which doc shouldn't dismiss.

Thanks all for the comments. Drs seem to dismiss Sjogren's because my blood tests were negative but I get other symptoms that seem to point in that direction too. I guess I am one of those that it will take years to get a proper diagnosis. I just seem to be doing the rounds of Drs and the dentist and the only help I get is from what I read on the internet!! The specialist (oral and maxillofacial) announced I had burning tongue syndrome and suggested I look it up on the internet!!! I don't think they know much about Sjogren's and dry eyes! There is a Sjogrens group here is NZ but it is just under new Leadership and nothing is happening at the moment. It would be interesting go to a get together when they have one.
Now I will look up ichtyosis on Google!
          Cheers

            Hi dotanna

            Hi,
I am in the same situation as you. Dry eyes, stuffy ears (after 2 years of dry eyes, and get serious after I had punctual plugs).
I've also made a blood test for Sjorgen and negative. I've heard there's another way of testing , with a cut on the tougue, and it works better. I'm planning to do it because I also have dry mouth and other problems which point to Sjorgen.
Bad is that Im only 25 and I'm afraid of the result that I got Sjorgen.

              Hi all,

Interesting!......Coz as well as dry eyes I have Eustacian tube problems...have had for years. My ears are super-sensitive to the ups and downs of driving out of town. I'm also asthmatic.

Don't have a dry mouth though.

              Ian.

This is interesting, I've had stuffy ears for years, then for last two years, sinus trouble, two wisdom teeth out relieved some but I have a lot of post nasal drip still and my ears are still bad. Now, I have dry eyes too.
I'd be interested if anyone found out if there was something of a link for them?
