Hi There everyone. This is Ozzie from Aus
Thank goodness I have found this site. I haven't had much time to read too many posts, but haven't found any mention of the symptoms I have. Apparently I have 'dry eye' and/or blepharitis says my optometrist and my doctor. I am sure neither of them really know what they are talking about. That is just my opinion tho. I think my problem started about 4 months ago, when I was using the computer way too much. My eyes don't really seem dry during the day, sometimes they do but not all the time. My main problem is a night when I go to sleep. Within about an hour or so after I go to sleep I seem to wake up and my right eye is closed. I cannot open it, the upper eyelid sticks to my eyeball and I need to put drops in to gently lubricate it to open my eye. I am using a lubricating gel which contains parafin and wool fat prior to going to bed but this doesnt seem to make any difference as i have to put it inside my lower eyelid and I dont think it gets under my upper eyelid. I also have to clean my eyelids at night before I do this as the optometrist said something about my eyelash follicles needing to be cleaned every night before bed.
I have no pain in my eye and no ixcessive red veins. I do not wear contact lenses and yes I am post menopausal.
Do you all have this problem when you sleep as well? Just from what I have read do you think I should be seeing an eye specialist as well?
Cheers Ozzie
