ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGG i just wrote a long post and then it didnt work cuz it said i wasnt logged in so i guess il write it again.
anyway i just now joined this forum because i was searching online for this condition because i have it too and reading this i'm sad to see that no one else seems to have gotten rid of it either. I get lots of stringy thick globs of mucus under my bottom eye lid and i have to pull it down and fish it out with my finger. This eye condition really, REALLY makes my eyes hurt sometimes and also the mucus tends to get directly over my pupil so my vision gets all blury and i cant see.
Treatment: well i've had it for about 4 or 5 years and it wasnt until about a year ago that i acutally told a doctor about it. My personal doctor and optomitrist all gave me the same useless info numberous times like wipe your eye lids with a warm mild soapy cloth or use and eye cup and of course neither did anything. As I mentioned this condition makes my eyes hurt really, really bad sometimes because the musuc is so irritating to the eyes and my doctor didnt seem to understand what i said when i mentioned my eyes hurt. After numerous complaining everytime i saw my personal doctor he finally gave me a referal to see an opthomoligist. so i saw the specialist and he asked me what meds i was on so i told him and he said those all make your eyes dry but i had had this long before i was on the meds im on now. All the specilist did was give me artifical tears and said he remembered hearing about something like this in med school. anyway he said he would look it up and see if he could do anything else so he looked it up and i saw him again and he told me the name of the condition (i thought eww what a gross name but at least its an actual medical condiction and im not just a freak).
So he told me to use the drops and not to touch my eyes at all because it just makes it worse (an almost impossible task with this condition) but i was determined to get ride of this so i used the drops as often as he told me to and i didnt touch my eyes and it was supposed to go away after a month he said and while the amount of mucus decreased significantly i was still getting it and i ended up picking at it again so im back at square one again.
anyway im going to go back to doing that because maybe it takes more time and even if it doesnt at least the amount of mucus will go down big time.
also something ive started doing is instead of fishing it out if ur at home u can go to the washroom and splah water on your face with your eyes open. (sure it might hurt but you will get used to it) i found that helps a little because it cleans your eyes out with water instead of picking at ur eyes and making it worse
