  • Foreign body sensation

Anyone know the cause of foreign body sensation? I saw an earlier post from Dr. Latkany stating that it was probably a symptom of rosacea, which very well could be the root of the problem, but I was wondering more specifically what causes the foreign body sensation? I am thinking it is the thick (almost hardened) oils blocking the individual glands that causes this feeling. Any ideas?

For me, the foreign body sensation is caused by dry spots on my eyeball. Before I figured that out, I used to pick and pull at my eyes, thinking there MUST be something in there. I'd run saline water in my eyes in hopes of washing "it" out. Even went to the doctor about it once---they found "nothing in there." It's a sensation that causes desperation.

Sometimes if my blepharitis is acting up, I get chunks of mucous (not strings) that are definitely irritating and are a sort of "foreign body."

I don't know anything about what Rosacea feels like, though.
