This is a interesting one - almost every resource indicates this is a true statement. We read how non-wetting and not evaporation causes "dry eye". What does the lipid layer do if not an aqueous protecting film? And what about all these drops with lipids - are they disrupting the film? Lipid layer is tiny yet drops with introduce many times more lipid that required.
