  • The Dry Eye Zone Hall of Fame

In celebration of our 3rd anniversary (February 19th) I thought I'd make some nominations.

    I LOVE LUCY
The Dry Eye Queen. "It's the color of your socks, stupid!"

    IAN (prattstar)
Best all round inspirational RCE sufferer, not to mention drinking buddy. ("Is the camera pointed at the ceiling?")

    HOMES
Author of the only post I've ever had to censor for adult content, and which was later sold on Ebay. Adored by the dry eye girls even after heartless abandonment. But what's this I hear? I think he's finally been supplanted by... Hangus.

    DIANAT
Author of the most-read post on the entire site (except maybe for Homes' censored post... there's no telling how far its private circulation reached).
Watch out - she has a tendency to get tipsy in the Punctal Pub.

    ROJZEN
Dry eye information, science and product connoisseur extraordinaire. How a single person can pack that much information in their brain at once is beyond me.

    NATALIE
Most patient, persistent and effective LASIK agitator. Today, the medical board of Maine, tomorrow, the world!

    Add your nominations please!!!

    Rebecca

Congratulations on the third anniversary of Dry Eye Zone, I am sure that I would have countless others that would support me in nominating you for the Dry Eye Hall of Fame. After all if it wasn't for you, none of us would be here and would be struggling with this insideous condition on our own (doesn't even bear thinking about).

I for one personally value your contributions and thank you personally for the assistance, encouragement and support you have given me in coming to terms with my post lasek dryness, you have helped me get through some pretty dark days and for that I can't express how thankful I am.

Looking forward to catching up with another "drink" in the punctal pub sometime soon.

    Warm regards as always

    Ian

      Ian: I'll drink to that!

      Rebecca

I must agree with Ian about his nomination of your as the premier member of the hall of fame.

After all, without you and your dedication to this site none of this would be possible.

I'm a newbie, and have not yet explored the entire site content, but can already see that it's the most comprehensive set of information on all our conditions which I have every encountered.

So many, many, thanks - I'm sure lots of people will agree with me.

      With warmest regards

wind beneath my wings; 4 nominations

For her incredibly courageous, innnovative, compassionate, and intellectually soaring leadership, which is so often my main reason for staying in the fight, Rebecca must stand at the apex of our hall of fame. . .Thank you, Rebecca, for making life with DES not only bearable, but outright fun, at times. . .

Thank you for nominating me, moreover, but if I contribute, it is only through the inspiration others provide. . .

For their immense grace in dealing with both expected and unexpected developments as they heal; for their careful, analytical approach to solutions; and for their kindness in crediting others, often for their own accomplishments, I nominate liz56 and shells. . .

For sheer spunk, flawless honesty, and wonderful attentiveness to the details of what others are experiencing, I nominate NYer. . .

          How can this be?!?!

I nominate Rebecca and the Almighty for making it all happen. I've been contemplating what this site has meant to me in the three years I've been part of it. It's become a very important part of my life. Thank you, Rebecca, for making this your ministry. You have managed to make the unbearable bearable.

              Rebecca,

Thank you so much for all the work you do for us. It's been two years since the onset of my dry eye, and I will be forever grateful that I had this website to help me learn to manage this condition. I was just reflecting on where I was two years ago, and I've come a long way since. My eyes are much better than they used to be, and my mental state is so much better. I honestly don't know how I would be doing if I had not had the Dry Eye Zone as a resource.

I appreciate that you've chosen to help other dry eye patients and that this website is available for people to learn and to get support. The Dry Eye Shop is also great for dry eye products that are not found in stores. I wasn't sleeping at night until I tried Dwelle, and that drop made all the difference to me.

Thank you so much for everything that you do. I appreciate it more than you will probably ever realize!!

              -Julie

Well, I thought I was just kicking off a 'silly thread' (we need those now and then!!) but lo and behold...

I have to say, when people post appreciation like this, my first inclination is to run and hide. Believe it or not I get embarrassed very easily. I am afraid I probably seem ungracious sometimes because I hardly ever reply when people post these wonderfully wonderfully kind, supportive things.

But I want to take this opportunity to let you all know that no kind word is ever lost on me. It's this kind of encouragement that literally keeps me going from day to day. On rough days, and they are many, just knowing that I've managed to help one person somewhere makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks, all, for your constant kindness. I could not possibly ask for a better community than I've been blessed with here.

This community is saving my life!!

I am pretty new to DEZ, but it has helped me immensley and I don't know how I would cope if it did not exist. The last few weeks have truley been my darkest hours and I am so thankful that I have this community to use as my guide as I slowly pull myself back up from the bottom.

Thank you so much Rebecca for all that you do!! Being able to PM you and call you on the phone means so much to me. And the Dry Eye Shop is wonderful.

Also, to those of you I have PM'ed lately (you know who you are) - THANK YOU!! And to those of you who have replied to my desperate requests and ruminations - THANK YOU!!

Also, having access to doctors like Dr. Holly and Dr. Latkaney is so wonderful. Thanks to both of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to help us out.

                  In healing, MDE

                    Agreed on all accounts

I have to just say -- I met a woman in the store today in th "eye care" aisle - she was seeking drops for dry eyes. We must have talked for 20 minutes or more -- I recommended this site and said "Rebecca and everyone are the best". I meant it. I encouraged her to stop by, and I hope she does.
Rebecca, you really are a life saver. You took something that you personally had a hard time with and built a community where others could share their frustrations and triumphs.
                    Thank you SO much.

                      Thank you

I have to throw my 2 cents in here as well. This site has helped me so much, more than any doctor I've seen. I have found more helpful information here than anywhere else. I don't even want to think about where I would be with my eyes not to mention my mental state without the help and encouragement I have found at this site.

My appreciation knows no bounds. Thank you Rebecca!!!!!!!!!

Ditto from here in the UK

Full agreement to all the kind words to you Rebecca. I am fairly new but I have learned so much from DED, after 20yrs with DE, I am feeling better
                        and more encouraged than ever.

As you know, DE help is very sparse here in UK so your site is so very valuable.

                        Thanks again, Patti

Ditto to Rebecca's place in the Hall of Fame

And a heartfelt thanks to the "academy" for my nomination.

Without this board, I know I would not have had the inspiration, support and knowledge to keep going and it's the only place I know to get a belly laugh (or meet good looking men, includng my fellow nominee Prattstar) over a discussion about dry eye.
