  • Is it possible Contact lens solution caused dryness?

Most contact lens wears blame the contacts, but I wonder if contact lens solutions could be the culprit. I wonder what type of preservatives are used in the saline solutions, especially with the new no rub out there.

I don't know about the solution itself causing my dry eye, but certainly since I started having problems with dry eyes three months ago I have become allergic to my all-in-one solution, after using it for about nine years.

After using lots of different drops that didn't really seem to help after a suspected viral eye infection, I was told I was allergic to the preservative in Viscotears so I went onto Celluvisc.

Still couldn't wear contact lenses so my optician changed my solution to peroxide.

I'm wearing my lenses fine now, though my eyes are actually red and a bit dry WITHOUT them.

Going back to the optician to get to the bottom of that little bombshell on Saturday!
