My eye doctor says my eyes are still extremely dry. I am coping pretty well most days and wearing my contacts up to 12 hours at a time. I am not miserable, except for rarely. Do you just get used to this? Am I in denial?

Getting used to your situation
I think that we all have the ability to adapt to what life has thrown our way. We all have good and bad days, us folks on this forum just have a little more to deal with than the general population. Finding some comfort and joy is a great start but that doesn't mean that you will not continue to try and find a treatment(s) that will cure? you or get you to the best possible place that you can be comfort wise. I think the only way that we will ever be satisfied is the complete disappearance of our DES. Take Care, DN

I don't know if it is just getting used to it or if it is finding ways to manage and cope with it. If you can do that more days than not, then it won't consume you.Every day with DES is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get.

I'm not sure if I was "used to it" or if I just IGNORED my symptoms most of the time. I've had dry eyes since I was a teenager -- used Visine (yikes!) once in awhile and then stopped altogether. I do not experience a great deal of pain from dry eyes, though. Only serious burning I had whenever I would close my eyes -- but I just set it aside in my mind and left it alone because I couldn't be bothered. *shrug*Shoey
