  • No Longer able to cry

I lost my crying ability yesterday due to my Sjogrens. Ofcourse very depressed and in need of some encouragement. Any words to push me through the day will be of great help. Thx!

I'm sorry to hear that. How long did it take? i mean, when was the last time you were able to cry normally?

        Try to take it easy

I have also heard some people with sjogren cant cry anymore. Does it bother you very much? I have the shirmer almost 0 and I know how it feels to have severe dry eyes but as I imagine, it wont be much worse if I can't cry anymore.
I got depression and sometimes I cry a lot. The tears hurt my eyes so badly that I really wish I can hold them back.

          Crying

The last time I remember being able to cry fully was December. Recently always a little came out. Now nothing. I am really upset because my MD had stopped me on restasis and now I think that is why I can't cry anymore. I really don't know what to do with this disease. It has ruined my life completely. I am always depressed and people avoid me like the plague. Worst of all my parents have no sympathy for my condition. I wish I could be in a normal body for just one day.

            my sympathies to you!!

            hi kcoffiner,

i am still doing great on my salivary gland function and my eyes are improving although today is not a terribly good day but most days i am almost near normal except some very tolerable mild gritiness or stinging. i've been on LDN (low dose naltrexone treatment) for over 140 days now and still doing better than expected. i think we've chatted about LDN before. i think you should really look into LDN as an alternative treatment method. if you were willing to use restasis then there shouldn't be any major concern for you to try LDN for a couple of months to see if it's right for you. If LDN is not able to reverse your lacrimal function, at least it may help halt the progression of your sjogren as it is a disease that keeps on giving (if you know what I mean!)

i don't mean to push you but what you are going through is just plain awful especially at your age. my heart goes out to you. you know you can always ask questions if you need. please keep your spirits up because i was where you are now once and i know how depressed and debilitating dry eyes can be.

            Chris C

Have you considered Salagen or Evoxac? I'm sorry to know of this turn of events for you. Hang in there. I hope you have good help in your physicians.

                    Meds

Currently on Evoxac. So weird not to be able to cry and right now thats all I feel like doing. I have heard about Sjogrens pts not being able to cry. Whats good though that this is probably as bad as it can be. Thanks for all the well wishes. U guys are sooo caring.

kcoffinger, I can still cry, but it is a horrible experience. I end up for days with sore eyes and the aftermath. I try not to, but sometimes it isn't possible. I lost a dear relative about 6 months ago and that's how I know i can still cry.

You have my sympathy. I'm also interested in the LDN some folks are talking about. Lucy

                          Meet the parents

KCoffiner. . .Everyone else has said so much already, and so well. . .I will add only that the lack of understanding we encounter in people whom we consider loved ones must ultimately become a badge of courage. . .From the isolation you will derive immense strength and power, over time, so long as you stick with us, and let us remind you that you have a brilliant community of peers here, who care deeply about you. The time will come when the compassion of close relatives will no longer be a needed source of strength. . .Our families sometimes just cannot rise to the occasion. . .Thankfully, we have other "families" over a lifetime. . .and when we become family to new strangers, we derive healing from this act, alone. . .
