Hello
I started suffering from dry eyes 5 months back when I relocated from Twickenham to Glasgow (UK), and one night I forgot to take out my daily disposable contacts. I awoke at somepoint in the night, realised my contacts were still in, and groggily flicked them out, however the 1 contact was quite stuck to the eye and although it came out it was slightly painful.
The next morning there was some discomfort in that eye, and I'd noticed that the vision had blurred significantly in that eye.
I did consult my local optometrist, and then a week later finally got to see an NHS opthamologist, both of whom assured me that there was no evidence of damage, and that my prescription was correct.
HOWEVER - the vision in that eye remains significantly reduced, and I am actually using a toric lense now where-as before the eye didn't require a toric lense.
The toric lense reduces the bluriness in the eye, however it brings on severe dry eye after a couple hours, as the thicker lens really dries out the eye quite significantly. After a couple hours, wetting drops only offer mild relief for a few minutes at the time, and I have to take the lens out at this point and switch to glasses.
Also, I am aware (with contacts and glasses) of a ghost image in this same eye now - this is not a binocular issue, the ghost image is in 1 eye only while the other eye is closed. Its a faint duplicate of the original, slightly down and to the right, which is what I think it causing the reduced quality of vision - this overlap of two images that I now have. I am only aware of this ghost image at night time, i.e. looking at street lights, car lights, or any light source in a dark environment.
Despite numerous visits to optometrists and 3 visits to NHS opthamologists, nobody can tell me what has gone wrong or what I need to do to fix this. I am really dissapointed in the care (or lack thereof) that the NHS has given me, I've been made to wait 6 weeks per appointment, which was concluded with a hasty 5 minute eye examination with a slit-lamp, and then the opthamologist concluded by saying they don't know, live with it, you're discharged, next patient.
It seems logical that perhaps I've damaged the cornea, so I would need to find someone who specialises in cornea damage and (possible) correction, but I am battling to find someone in Glasgow or nearby. I am willing to travel/fly anywhere now to find someone who perhaps can help.
Please can someone advise on a cornea specialist in Glasgow, Edinburgh or anywhere that I can visit. I would prefer to go Private just to get some expert attention. I'm desperate to find expert help, and feeling quite despondant.
Thank you for any response or help you can give.
