So. I woke up today, and half asleep, dragged myself off for my eye drops. I groped around and found the first bottle on my dresser- felt right, shook it, and it was liquid- since I only leave bottles of my eyedrops out on the top and not sorted into bins, I had no reason to doubt that this was the right stuff.
I go to uncap it and it's snatched away from me.
I turn towards said thief (aka my wife) and sign a few choice words about how my eyes feel, and how she best hand the bottle over.
She informs me that I was about to use my glucose strip's control solution in my eyes. It turns out I had left it out of the case by accident.
This is yet another example of the incredible lengths we will go to for our dry eyes- using liquids that aren't even eye drops!
