anyone have this with dry eye??

the outer corners of my eyes get inflammed...it's hard to describe, but the skin looks "pulled" too tight in the corners. i can see stretch lines on my skin when it happens. when it happens i look about a decade older...

i'm pretty sure it's related to my dry eye, even though my doc told me it's not..i notice my eyes are really dry when it happens. no swelling and my eyes feel better, less dry...

i know that dry eye and "inflammation" are related, but does that mean the skin around my eyelids can get inflammed too?

Yes, I have this along with dry eye.

I don't know if it is the same for you, but many people have inflammation/allergic responses that involve both the eyes and the skin around the eyes, eyelids, etc. I posted something in the medical literature forum about eyelid dermatitis and there are several posts in the archives about this as well as it affects other users here.

You may want to make an appointment with a dermatologist to determine the source of the inflammatory response. It could be an allergic response or sensitivity to something in your environment. It could even be a reaction to something in the drops you are using.

But eyelid dermatitis (if this is what you have) is not uncommon with dry eye/inflammation.

    I hope this helps.

      re:inflammation

      thanks i'll check it out...

not sure why my doc said inflammation and dry eye have nothing to do with one another...she's an eye surgeon for pete's sake...all that i've been reading lately is that they have everything to do with each other. from what i understand it's a chicken and egg thing... treat one and the other gets better.

when i first got plugs the inflammation went away almost completely..these were the 7 day collegan ones that dissolve or whatever. my eyes felt wonderful for that week. it was amazing--moist comfortable not swollen or tight. then i got silicone (all 4) and they don't seem to have the same effect. i'm dry and inflammed again...not sure why collegan would work and the others not..

The collagen ones sit down lower in the duct and helped me some, but the silicone ones work much better for me. The doctor says it has to do with your duct structure and if the collagen ones are better you need the perms that sit in lower.
