  • Skin affected by Dry eyes?

    Hi all,
Has anyone else noticed their skin doesnt look as good as it used to since suffering with Dry Eyes?
I thought I just had a problem cos i feel like crap 90% of the time but "My Dry Eyes" also mentioned that her skin has become "ruddy and swallow". Anyone else?
    Any ideas as to why?
    Thanks

    Suneet.

I noticed that when my eyes started getting really dry, about 5 years ago, my skin started to have more problems, too: dryness, sun-damage, more wrinkles, dark circles under the eyes, etc. I notice other women my age---their facial skin looks a lot smoother than mine. My nose is a problem area---there are really rough spots on it that darken in the sun. And I have to use LOTS of body lotion every day and I still feel dried out.

There are physiological/ hormonal factors affecting skin health---stress, sun exposure, lack of sleep, diet. For me it's the underlying Sjogren's that dries me out.

      Mine looks so much older

Heck I just look older period. I squint so badly that there are wrinkles where 2 years ago I had none. And my mouth has developed a downward turn because I'm always in pain, my eyes hurt or I have a headache. And I have Sjogrens so I have to take many medicines all which affect the health of my skin. I've got more wrinkles due to the dryness of my skin. So yes, I'm looking older faster.

My skin has actually improved, despite getting older. I personally believe it is due to a change in the cosmetics that I use. A ruddy complexion could be an indication of rosacea. It is often a cause or contributor to dry eye.

explain more on the rosacea. i know what it is, at least I think I do and I think I may have it. Should I go to a dermatologist for diagnosis??

and how are rosacea and dry eyes linked how? I've heard of ocular rosacea but how does that work?

          thanks for the info!
